Terms of Service
Last Updated: June 30, 2026
Welcome to our platform. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our cloud-based note-taking and public journal-sharing web application (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you agree to these Terms on behalf of that organisation.
1. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. You irrevocably agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute or claim.
2. Eligibility & Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
- You are responsible for safeguarding the password or credentials you use to access the Service.
- You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
3. User-Generated Content & Intellectual Property
You retain all ownership rights to the notes, links, text, and images you upload or post to the Service ("User Content").
However, by using the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable license to host, store, cache, reproduce, and display your User Content solely for the purpose of providing, operating, and maintaining the Service.
- Public Journals: If you choose to make a journal publicly visible, this license extends to making your content viewable by the general public and other users of the Service.
- Collaborative & Shared Content: The Service allows users to collaborate on and contribute to journals owned by other users.
- If you contribute content to another user's journal, you grant that user a permanent right to display your contribution within their journal.
- You acknowledge that while you may delete a journal you own (which will remove all contributions within it), you cannot unilaterally delete or force the removal of your contributions to a journal owned by another user, even if you delete your account.
4. Acceptable Use & Content Moderation
You agree not to upload, post, or share any User Content that is illegal, defamatory, infringing on intellectual property rights, invasive of privacy, violent, harmful to minors, or otherwise objectionable.
- Reporting & Flagging System: We operate a strict "report and flag" system similar to community-driven moderation platforms. We do not proactively scan or pre-screen User Content.
- Takedown Rights: We rely on our community to report violations. Upon receiving a report of abusive or violating content, we reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to investigate, review, restrict, or permanently remove the content and suspend or terminate offending accounts without prior notice.
5. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by English law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your access to or use of (or inability to access or use) the Service.
6. Fees, Subscriptions, and Payments
Flojourn offers three membership tiers: Free, Personal, and Club. The Personal and Club tiers require a paid subscription.
- Billing Cycle: Paid tiers are subscription-based and are billed automatically on an annual basis.
- Payment Processor (Merchant of Record): Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle handles all customer service inquiries, returns, local tax compliance (such as VAT), and pro-rata calculations for subscription upgrades or downgrades.
- Cancellations: You can cancel your paid subscription at any time. Your access will remain active until the end of your current annual billing period, after which your account will automatically downgrade to the Free tier.
Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 30, 2026
We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use our note-taking and journal-sharing web application. We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Data Controller
For the purposes of the UK GDPR, the operator of this Service acts as the Data Controller for your personal data.
2. Information We Collect
- Information We Collect
Identity & Usernames: When you create an account, you are automatically assigned a random, anonymous username. You may choose to modify this username to reflect your real-world identity, but this is entirely optional.
Payment Information: Because payments are handled securely by Paddle.com, Flojourn does not collect, process, or store your credit card numbers or banking details. Paddle provides us only with anonymous transaction tokens and confirmation of your subscription tier. You can view Paddle's privacy policy directly on their website to see how they manage your billing data.
We collect the minimum amount of data necessary to run a secure, functional cloud application:
- Account Information: Your email address and authentication credentials required to create and secure your account.
- User Content: Notes, links, and images you intentionally save and choose to store or share on the platform.
- Log & Technical Data: Technical information necessary to maintain session security, such as your IP address (processed strictly for security/rate-limiting and not stored long-term).
3. Cookies & Tracking
We believe in a privacy-first web. We do not use any advertising networks, behavioral tracking scripts, or cross-site advertising cookies.
- Essential Cookies: We use cookies solely for authentication and session management (keeping you logged into your account). These are strictly necessary for the performance of the Service.
- Analytics: We use a privacy-first, cookieless, and anonymous web analytics tool. It does not track you across the web, does not use cookies, and collects data only in aggregate. No Personal Identifiable Information (PII) is stored or tracked via our analytics.
4. Data Storage, Infrastructure, & Sub-processors
Your data is securely stored and delivered using modern cloud infrastructure.
- Our application logic and media handling run via Cloudflare Workers.
- Your uploaded files, images, and text assets are securely stored in Cloudflare R2 storage buckets.
- By uploading content to the Service, you acknowledge that your data will be processed through Cloudflare's global network to ensure fast, secure delivery.
5. Account Deletion & Data Retention
- Your Rights: Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, or request the deletion of your personal data ("Right to be Forgotten").
- Deletes vs. Shared Contributions: If you choose to delete your account, your profile and the journals you own will be permanently wiped from our active databases.
- Retention of Collaborative Data: Because our Service relies on collaborative interaction, any text, links, or comments you contributed to another user's public journal will remain visible inside that user's journal to preserve the historical integrity of their stream. Your name/profile identifier attached to that comment will either be anonymised or removed, but the text of the contribution itself will persist unless the journal owner deletes the entire journal.
6. Updates to These Policies
We may update our Terms and Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policies on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top.
These drafts give you a clean, legally binding foundation built
